Embroidered Silk Ark Curtain (Parokhet) from Baghdad
Enrich the Great Bookפרוכת משי רקומה מבגדאד
Description
Ark curtain of the great Jewish communities of Mesopotamia, made of rich silk and embroidered with metallic threads. The decoration combines lobed arches, flowering vases and the inscription Keter Torah or the donor's dedication, in oriental taste. Gold-thread embroidery on a light ground makes a precious, luminous effect facing the ark.
