Description

Tablet or scroll fitted with a sliding mechanism, sometimes in carved wood, used to display each day the count of the forty-nine days between Passover and Shavuot. It bears the blessings of the ceremony.

Significance

It accompanies the commandment of the counting of the Omer linking the Exodus from Egypt to the giving of the Torah.
