Description
Double goblet with two pivoting bowls allowing the betrothed to drink together, derived from Renaissance wedding cups. Adorned with Hebrew blessing inscriptions, it served for the sharing of wine at the engagement. This learned form, proper to prosperous Italian communities, attests to their integration into Renaissance tableware arts.
