Childbed protection plaque "ben porat" in silver, Yemen

Plaque hung in the new mother's room, engraved with the formula "ben porat Yosef", reputed to turn the evil eye away from mother and child. In Yemen these silver filigree plaques joined the infant's amulets. The verse of Joseph's blessing was widely used as a family protection in the Eastern communities.
