Description
Repoussé silver case for a psalter or prayer book, made by the Jewish communities of India. The Indo-Portuguese floral décor and Hebrew inscriptions attest to the cultural blending of Cochin and the Bene Israel. A personal devotional object, sometimes given at a wedding.
