Leather tefillin case from Yemen

Description

Tanned-leather case holding the two tefillin boxes, sometimes divided into two separate compartments. The Jews of Yemen, fine leatherworkers, decorated it with delicate geometric stamping and a thonged flap. It accompanied the worshipper from home to synagogue each morning.
