Embroidered Silk Torah Mantle (Meil) from Persia

Description
Where the scroll is not placed in the rigid tik, it is dressed in a silk mantle. Persian examples are cut from embroidered silks or brocades with the floral motifs characteristic of Iranian textile art, in a harmony of vivid colors. A Hebrew dedicatory inscription is added, and the whole closes around the upright scroll.
