Description

Pouch of linen or silk with three sewn compartments, made to separate the matzot called Kohen, Levi and Yisrael. The embroidered flap often bears the Seder inscription or scenes of the Exodus in cross-stitch. A household piece of the Ashkenazi home, it joined liturgical function and domestic needlework.
