Mogilev (Mahilyow) est une ville importante de Biélorussie avec une communauté juive attestée depuis le XVIe siècle et une vie culturelle et rabbinique notable. Sous l'occupation nazie, un ghetto y fut établi en 1941 et les Juifs furent progressivement massacrés jusqu'en 1942.
