Qoqand (Kokand), capitale du khanat du même nom dans la vallée de Ferghana (Ouzbékistan), abrita une communauté juive bukhariote impliquée dans le commerce de la soie, du coton et des teintures. Sous le khanat (XVIIIe–XIXe siècle), les Juifs jouèrent un rôle significatif dans le grand commerce centre-asiatique, avant l'intégration de la région à l'Empire russe en 1876.
