Figure in the origins of Judeo-Tat literature (juhuri). He led the group that developed the Judeo-Tat alphabet based on Latin adopted at the 2nd pan-Soviet conference on cultural construction among Mountain Jews (Baku, April 1929) and compiled Judeo-Tat–Russian and Russian–Judeo-Tat dictionaries (~8,000 words). Author of plays and poems (the satirical comedy « The King, the Rabbi and the Rich Man », 1920; the poem « The Mountain Woman », 1928) and memoirs (« Petroleum and Victory », Baku, 1991; « The Great Destiny of a Small People », Moscow, 1995).
