Riche marchand tunisien, mort en janvier 1785 à un âge avancé, qui consacra une partie de son temps aux études rabbiniques et succéda en 1752 à son maître Isaac Lumbroso comme rabbin de la congrégation de Leghorn à Tunis, où il jouissait d'une haute réputation d'autorité rabbinique. Il publia To'afot Re'em, commentaire sur l'œuvre d'Elie Mizraḥi, à Leghorn en 1761, et Mira Dakya, commentaire sur plusieurs traités du Talmud de Babylone et sur le Yad ha-ḥazakah de Maïmonide, à Leghorn en 1792, ainsi que l'ouvrage inachevé de son fils Isaac Carvalho, mort en janvier 1759.
