Chendamangalam (Kerala) abrita l'une des synagogues des Juifs Malabari de Cochin, dont les origines remontent au XVIe siècle. La communauté locale, intégrée à la vie du village, déclina progressivement tout au long du XXe siècle à mesure que ses membres émigraient en Israël, laissant la synagogue presque désertée.
