Banquier de Rhodes sans enfants, il consacra sa fortune aux pauvres de la communauté, notamment aux enfants nécessiteux. La Fondation Joseph Notrica finança dans les années 1920 le « Notrica Foundation Community Building », donné à la communauté juive de Rhodes et servant de centre communautaire.
