Shots are fired at night against two Jewish schools in the Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood of Montréal. The bullets strike the facades and doors of the buildings, which are empty at that hour.

Côte-des-Neiges is home to one of the largest Jewish concentrations in Canada, formed by waves of immigration from Eastern Europe and then by the arrival of French-speaking Moroccan Jews in the nineteen-sixties. The shootings are part of a series of arson attacks and threats targeting schools, synagogues and businesses in the city following the outbreak of war in the Middle East; they lead to the establishment of permanent police protection for the schools.
