Synagogue attack
27 avril 2019·Poway (Californie)
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
The Chabad of Poway is a small synagogue in San Diego County, California, whose congregation included several survivors of the Shoah. On April 27, 2019, the last day of Pessah, a nineteen-year-old nursing student entered during the service and opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle. Lori Gilbert-Kaye, who placed herself in front of the rabbi, was killed; Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein lost fingers, and two other people, including a young girl, were wounded. The weapon jammed, bringing the killing to a halt. The attacker had published a manifesto online explicitly invoking the Pittsburgh shooting, carried out six months earlier, and the Christchurch attack. He was sentenced to life imprisonment.
