Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, at the confluence of the Bug and the Vistula, was home to an ancient community settled in the shadow of the Modlin fortress. The occupying forces established a closed quarter there, receiving Jews from the surrounding towns. The city's position, within a territory annexed to the Reich, meant that its inhabitants were sent not to Treblinka but to Auschwitz. The operation unfolded in several waves during the autumn and winter: the inhabitants were gathered in the barracks, sorted, then transported. The sick and the children were killed on the spot, and the community of Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki disappeared.
