the Jewish borough pillaged by armed gangs
Semenivka, a small town in the northern part of the Chernihiv governorate, had a Jewish population engaged in petty trade. During the civil war, it was pillaged by armed bands from neighboring villages. Houses were broken into, goods were carried off, and inhabitants were beaten.
