the Jewish town plundered and ransomed by armed gangs

Pyriatyn, a township in the Poltava governorate on the Ouday, was home to an ancient Jewish community for the left bank. During the civil war, it was pillaged and ransomed by armed bands. The inhabitants were stripped of their belongings, their stores carried off, their homes searched. The township is cited in the surveys drawn up after the war among the localities struck in the Poltava governorate.
