the Jews of the small town stripped, beaten, several killed

Lokhvytsia, a small town in the Poltava governorate, had a Jewish population of merchants and artisans. During the civil war, its Jewish inhabitants were robbed and beaten by passing detachments, and several were killed. As throughout the governorate, the pogroms there were carried out by troops in transit rather than by the local population, and followed the routes of roads and railways.
