The Jews were definitively expelled from the Kingdom of Naples.
The kingdom had come under the Spanish crown, and the edict of fourteen ninety-two finally came to be applied there, after half a century of delays and purchased tolerances. The communities of Puglia and Calabria, very ancient and enriched by the expellees from Sicily, then disappeared; their members made their way to the Papal States, Ferrara, Venice, and the Levant.
