Expulsion of Jews from Genoa

1515·Gênes

Toll
toute la communauté

The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.

The Jews were expelled from Gênes.

The Ligurian republic drove them out and recalled them several times over the course of the century, depending on whether or not it needed their merchants and their physicians; it was at Gênes that, a generation earlier, expellees from Spain had disembarked, dying on the quays, of whom a local chronicler left an account.
