the community destroyed
The community of Prenzlau, in the Uckermark, was destroyed during the Black Death.
It appears in the lists of Brandenburg communities annihilated; the margraves disposed of the property of the dead, as did the other princes of the Empire.
The Uckermark was then a march disputed between Brandenburg and Pomerania, and its small communities lived under the protection of lords who withdrew it all at once; the town does not re-enter Jewish history until the era of emancipation.
