The community of Memmingen, in Upper Swabia, was destroyed during the Black Death.

The imperial city lived off the linen trade with Italy, and its Jewish lenders financed this commerce; their debts were cancelled to the benefit of the burghers after the massacre, as everywhere in Swabia that year.
