Victime de l'expulsion d'Espagne (1492), il s'établit à Tlemcen où il dirigea une yeshiva. Écrivain prolifique dont l'œuvre resta manuscrite ; il fut l'un des premiers maîtres de la Kabbale en Afrique du Nord au tournant du XVIe siècle.
