Chef de la yeshiva de Narbonne, vraisemblablement actif au onzième siècle — on le déduit du fait que Moïse ha-Darchan, mentionné par Abraham ben David, était son fils —, Jacob ben Moïse ben Aboun, surnommé « ha-Navi » (le prophète), est cité par Abraham ben Isaac, ab bet din de Narbonne, comme l'auteur d'un responsum.
