Talmudiste français, actif dans le premier tiers du XIIe siècle, fils aîné de Merwan de Narbonne. Aussi respecté que son père, il fut élu rabbin de Narbonne et ses décisions talmudiques faisaient autorité. À la tête de la yeshiva, il forma plusieurs élèves qui se distinguèrent, dont son neveu Moïse ben Joseph, Moïse ben Jacob ha-Nassi et Abraham ben Isaac, « ab bet din » de Narbonne.
