Martyr juif né en 1564 de parents néo-chrétiens à Coimbra, au Portugal, brûlé vif à Lisbonne le 5 mai 1624. Destiné à l'Église comme beaucoup de juifs secrets cherchant à échapper à l'Inquisition, il devint docteur en 1592 puis professeur de droit canon à l'université de Coimbra. Soupçonné par l'Inquisition, il comparut devant son tribunal en 1611 et fut acquitté, mais en 1619 une synagogue secrète qu'il dirigeait fut découverte à Lisbonne ; traduit devant l'Inquisition le 18 décembre de cette même année, il fut condamné à mort et brûlé cinq ans plus tard.
