Jakob Brüll est un talmudiste et auteur autrichien né à Neu-Raussnitz, en Moravie, le 16 novembre 1812, et mort à Kojetein le 29 novembre 1889. Formé aux yeshivot de Bonyhád, Presbourg et Budapest, il est élu rabbin de Kojetein en 1843, poste qu'il occupe jusqu'à sa mort; parmi ses élèves figurent ses deux fils, Nehemia et Adolf Brüll, ainsi que David Kaufmann. Il écrivit « Forschungen über Targumim und Midraschim » (1852), « Die Mnemonik des Talmud » (1864) et « Mebo ha-Michna » (2 vol., 1876, 1885), et publia « Ben Zekounim » une semaine avant sa mort.
