Réviseur de la Bible rabbinique publiée par l'imprimeur König de Bâle en 1619, et assistant de Johannes Buxtorf, le père puis le fils, à la demande duquel il fut autorisé à s'établir à Bâle. Lors de la circoncision d'un de ses fils en 1619, en présence de plusieurs Juifs, il fut condamné à une amende, de même que König et Buxtorf, et tous les Juifs présents furent brièvement emprisonnés. Il vécut ensuite à Lengnau puis à Zurich, commerçant en livres hébreux acquis lors de ses voyages en Alsace, et joua un rôle important dans la correspondance entre Johannes Hottinger de Zurich et Johannes Buxtorf de Bâle. Il vivait encore en 1644.
