Né en 1912 à Itaituba (Pará), d'origine séfarade marocaine (son arrière-grand-mère maternelle arrive en Amazonie en 1850). Études primaires au Maroc (Alliance israélite universelle), puis retour à Belém et carrière d'officier d'artillerie. Il consacre un ouvrage à la première communauté israélite du Brésil, celle des Juifs marocains d'Amazonie.
