Banská Bystrica (Besztercebánya en hongrois), ville minière de Slovaquie centrale, vit des Juifs s'y établir progressivement à partir du XIXe siècle, après la levée des restrictions d'installation. Ils jouèrent un rôle dans le commerce et l'industrie. La communauté fut deportée à Auschwitz en 1944.
