The Toledot Yaakov Yosef is the very first Hasidic work to be printed, marking Hasidism's entry into the public and literary sphere. Written by a principal disciple of the Baal Shem Tov, it transmits over 250 direct oral teachings of the Besht on devekut, joy in divine service, and the spiritual value of every Jew.
