Commemorative Panel (yahrzeit) painted in Central Europe

Board hung in the synagogue to recall the anniversary date of the death of community members, lighting a memorial candle in their name. These Ashkenazi panels of painted wood carry, in calligraphed columns, the names of the deceased and the Hebrew date, sometimes under a pediment adorned with funerary instruments or verses of remembrance.
