Ashkenazi marriage contract, more austere than Mediterranean models: architectural frames, sometimes zodiac signs or figures of Moses and Aaron. German ketubbot often remain calligraphed without great pictorial luxury, the emphasis being on the legal readability of the text. Some bear the coats of arms or monograms of families.
