Saintes, ancienne capitale de la Saintonge, possédait une communauté juive médiévale attestée aux XIe–XIVe siècles. Présente dans un contexte urbain animé, elle fut touchée par l'expulsion royale de 1306 et définitivement dispersée en 1394.
