Guebwiller (Gebweiler), ville du Haut-Rhin, accueillit une communauté juive consistoriale au XIXe siècle, avec une synagogue édifiée sous le Premier Empire. Elle s'inscrit dans le réseau des communautés juives du Haut-Rhin organisées après le décret napoléonien de 1808.
