Dorohoi (département de Botoșani, Moldavie roumaine) abritait l'une des plus importantes communautés juives de la région au XIXe siècle. Le 1er juillet 1940, un pogrom perpétré par des soldats roumains fit plusieurs dizaines de victimes juives ; la communauté fut ensuite soumise à de nouvelles persécutions et déportations sous le régime Antonescu (1941–1944).
