Afyon (Afyonkarahisar), ville d'Anatolie centrale connue pour la production d'opium, comptait une petite communauté juive documentée dans les registres ottomans depuis le XVIe siècle. Ces Juifs, intégrés dans le tissu commercial local, étaient principalement marchands.
