Fils du marchand de textile Aboudi Zilkha, il fonde à Bagdad en 1902 la Zilkha Bank, qu'il étend à Beyrouth, Damas, Le Caire, Alexandrie, Genève, Paris et New York. Il émigre à New York vers 1941-1942 et y meurt en 1956. Ses fils (Ezra, Selim, Abdullah, Maurice) poursuivent l'activité financière.
