Fondé en 1963 à l'Université hébraïque grâce au soutien de la Fondation Melton, ce centre est dédié à la recherche et à la formation en éducation juive à l'échelle internationale. Il développe des curricula, des méthodes pédagogiques et forme des enseignants et directeurs d'écoles juives du monde entier. Il a notamment conçu le programme Melton Adult Mini-School, diffusé dans des dizaines de communautés diasporiques.
