Créée en 1988, l'IAJGS est une fédération à but non lucratif qui coordonne les activités de plus de 80 sociétés de généalogie juive à travers le monde. Elle organise la Conférence internationale annuelle sur la généalogie juive, défend les intérêts communs de ses membres et promeut la recherche et la diffusion des connaissances en histoire familiale juive.
