Roi de Judée nommé par Rome, bâtisseur du Second Temple agrandi (le Temple d'Hérode), de Massada et de Césarée. Malgré sa cruauté, son œuvre architecturale est considérable. Le Mur occidental (Kotel) est un vestige de son Temple.
