Printed personal invitation, from Rabbi Ḥayyim Leib Smulevitz, for his wedding with the daughter of Rabbi Eliezer Yehudah Finkel, head of the Mir yeshiva, on 3 Tevet 1930. The Gaon Rabbi Ḥayyim Smulevitz (1902-1979), grandson of the "Grandfather" of Navaradok. Among the greatest Torah scholars renowned for his diligence and brilliant lectures. During the Holocaust years, he led the yeshiva during its wanderings from the town of Mir to Vilna, Lipan, and Shanghai. He later came to Jerusalem and established the Mir yeshiva there together with his brother-in-law Rabbi Finkel, and headed it for many years. It is interesting to note that the day of his death also fell on 3 Tevet 1979, exactly 49 years after his wedding. Card 6.5 × 10.5 cm. Good condition, light creases.
