Prayer for the correction of seminal emission. Large sheet for hanging in a synagogue. Rawitsch (Rawitsch, Poznań district, Germany/Poland), year "and on your day of rejoicing and on your fixed occasions and on your new moons according to the ordinance" [5578, 1818]. Ink on thick paper. Large sheet in handwriting, for hanging in a synagogue. At its top, the word "יהי" is highlighted in enlargement, in a circular frame. To its right and left are listed the times for recitation of the prayer: "on the Sabbath when they bless the month, they say may it be thy will this"; "he shall look at the hour when the cantor says and because of our sins they say may it be thy will this" (this prayer is recited according to the Kabbalists in the synagogue, at the time of the blessing of the month, and on the Days of Awe and holidays at the time of the additional service). The word "יהי", the above instructions and also the frame of the sheet are all decorated with delicate branch-like ornaments. At the bottom of the sheet, in an oval frame, appear the year mentioned above and the name of the scribe: "I have set my fingers, Samuel son of the scholar Isaiah, scribe of the law, of the holy community of Rawitsch". 49.5×36 cm, frame 77.5×63.5 cm. Moderate condition. Dark paper. Several letters blurred. Stains, tears and damage to the margins, repaired professionally. Not examined outside the frame.
