A printed polemical letter. Letters to rabbis and prominent persons in the State of England. [Mir?], eve of New Year תרס"א (1900). A letter from Rabbi Elijah Baruch (Kamai) Head of the Yeshiva: "... and now the envoy has come and destroyed the established procedures for our holy yeshiva and takes what he finds there". And a letter from the city's chief rabbi, the gaon Rabbi Elijah David Rabinowitz Teomim (the Aderet), who writes "... and how did he find a way to take for himself to change from charity to charity. ... and when he also writes in the name of the Master of the Holy Land ... my Maharash"s may he be well: that if the envoy causes destruction in a matter that the yeshiva students have already taken hold of, it is robbery on high.". 28.5 cm page. Condition fair, fold marks. Small tears and wear on folds and page corners. Many articles have been written about the controversy over the Mir Yeshiva coffers with the trustees of the Rambam coffers from the Land of Israel who claimed that only they had the right to place coffers in diaspora communities. A handwritten letter from Rabbi Elijah Baruch Kamai sent in the year תר"ס [1900] to Rabbi Samuel Salant in which he writes to him against the envoy who "travels in the State of England and destroys and shakes all our boxes..." – the letter from Maharash"s mentioned in this proclamation is a continuation of that same correspondence).
