A vast and impressive autograph collection. Dozens of letters, legal rulings, halakhic responsa, wills, and deeds, in the handwriting and distinguished signatures of nearly one hundred rabbis and sages of Morocco and North Africa. 18th and 19th centuries. Among the writers and signatories are rabbis of the most distinguished families in Morocco, including some of the foremost scholars of their generation who served as rabbis and judges in Fes, Meknes, Sefrou, Mogador, and elsewhere, from the families of Ben Attar, Ibn Tsur, Birdogo, Toledano, Siriro, Monsonniego, and others. * A deed of release from the year 5471, signed by Rabbi Yehuda Ben Attar — Maharibeve (5415–5493, Malkhei Rabanan 46, 4), head of the rabbinical court of Fes and leader of his generation [a relative of the author of the Or HaHayyim HaKadosh], author of Minchat Yehuda and other works. Moroccan Jews held him in the greatest reverence and called him "Rabbi Elkabir" [Our Great Rabbi]. The Hida writes of him: "The Rabbi, of blessed memory, was steeped in miracles, and many wonders have reached my ears that occurred to him both during his lifetime and after his passing… He was thrown into a lions' den and was saved after remaining there a full day and night… All men would swear by him, and one who swore falsely in his name would die." * Three pages in the handwriting of the preeminent rabbi of Morocco of his time (the successor of Maharibeve), Rabbi Yaakov Ibn Tsur — Yaabetz (5433–5513, Malkhei Rabanan, pp. 64–65). * Documents signed by members of the Yaabetz's court and the sages of his era, including: a document signed by Rabbi Menachem Siriro — the son-in-law of the Yaabetz — and Rabbi Shalem Adreai. * A court record from the year 5513 (the year of the Yaabetz's death), signed by Rabbi Meimon Busidan and Rabbi Shmuel Ibn David Okhiyon, concerning Rabbi Rafael Oved Ibn Tsur, son of the Yaabetz. Within the document, "his late father the Rabbi" is mentioned. * A deed for the widow of Rabbi Haviv Toledano from the year 5498, signed by Rabbi Elazar Bahlul, Rabbi Moshe Toledano, and Rabbi Elazar Cohen. * A document from the year 5505, signed by the rabbinical court judges Rabbi Ephraim Monsonniego, Rabbi Moshe Ibn Zamra, and Rabbi Shmuel Albaz [a student of Maharibeve and a member of the Yaabetz's court; a companion of the author of the Or HaHayyim, who refers to him as "my brother the Rashba"]. * Documents signed by early Moroccan rabbis: Rabbi Eliyahu HaTzarfati (the First), Rabbi Shaul Yeshua Abitbol (author of Avnei Shaish), Rabbi Shaul Ibn Danan, Rabbi Meimon Ibn Danan, Rabbi Meimon Busidan, Rabbi Yitzhak Shimon Tzeva, Rabbi Yehuda Bar Dahan, Rabbi Yaakov Birdogo, Rabbi Petahya Mordekhai Birdogo, and Rabbi Rafael Birdogo (known as "the angel Rafael"). * And many additional signatures. Legal rulings and documents signed by leading Moroccan rabbis at the end of the 5500s and the beginning of the 5600s: Rabbi Vidal HaTzarfati, Rabbi Yedidya Monsonniego, Rabbi Yehuda Ben Attar (the Second), Rabbi Matityah Siriro, Rabbi Yaakov Birdogo, Rabbi Yaakov Ben Attar, Rabbi Matityah Birdogo, Rabbi Amor Abitbol, Rabbi Haviv Toledano, Rabbi Rafael Ibn Tsur, Rabbi Amram Albaz, Rabbi Shlomo Nahon, Rabbi Yehuda Albaz, and many others. Approximately half of the manuscripts date from the 18th century (from the year 5466 onward) and approximately half from the 19th century (between the years 5560–5660).
