The expulsion edict was applied in Sardinia, and the community of Cagliari disappeared.
The island had been under the crown of Aragon since the fourteenth century, and its Jews therefore fell under the edict signed at Granada. The synagogues of Cagliari and Alghero became churches; in Alghero one can still see the quarter that bore the name of the Jewish quarter.
