Description

Earthenware bowl inscribed in a spiral with Aramaic incantations against demons, buried beneath the thresholds of houses. Many are written in Jewish Babylonian Aramaic.

Significance

They illuminate popular magic and the language of the Jewish community of Babylonia in the Talmudic era.
