Description
In Moroccan Jewish cemeteries many graves are horizontal slabs or low stelae, whitewashed with lime, engraved with a Hebrew epitaph giving the deceased's name, lineage and praises. The tombs of saints (tsaddiqim) become places of pilgrimage.
